Vintage Painted Entryway Dresser

Chalked Ultra Matte paint is perfect for achieving a soft, antique finish that looks great by itself or distressed. Here's how we used it to transform a standard small dresser into a vintage, storage friendly entryway table. 

1. PREPARE: Always work in a well ventilated area and cover nearby items with drop cloths to protect them from paint drips. Remove the hardware from the dresser and tape off any areas that you don't want to be painted. We covered the top of our dresser to keep the original wood grain finish. Scuff and sand all areas you want to paint, then wipe the entire dresser clean with a lint free cloth. For best results, remove the drawers before painting, and paint each drawer individually. 2. PAINT: Stir the Chalked Ultra Matte paint thoroughly. Use a high quality brush to apply a liberal coat to the entire surface of the dresser, avoiding excessive brushing. One coat is required, but we recommend 1-2 coats depending on the colour of the surface you're painting over. Be sure to wait 30 minutes between each coat.
3. FINISH: Let the dresser dry for approximately 24 hours. Once it's completely dry, you have the option of distressing the paint to intensify your vintage look. If you choose to do so, use a fine to medium sand paper and lightly sand, focusing on the edges and curves of the dresser. Once you've achieved your desired look, apply 1-2 coats of Chalked Protective Topcoat for added durability. Allow the topcoat to dry, and reattach your hardware.

Place your dresser in your home's entryway and decorate with a lamp, picture frames, or mirror-finished vases. The drawers in the dresser are great for storing keys, purses, and even hats and gloves in the winter. Enjoy!
