Some pallet wood and a few supplies are all it takes to create a one-of-a-kind holiday decoration for your home. Add personalized wood ornaments, snowflakes and a twig star to complete the rustic look.

  1. Disassemble pallet and cut planks in different sizes.
  2. Sand the cut pallet wood pieces until smooth.
  3. Lightly stain a cut two by four trunk and stand, follow the directions on the Varathane Wood Stain can for best results.
  4. Screw or nail branches on to stained trunk and stand.
  5. Apply a light, thin coat of Chalked Ultra Matte paint to each pallet board with a brush using the directions on the can. Let the paint dry for approximately 30 minutes.
  6. Lightly apply Satin Eden spray paint every other pallet board over the white chalked paint. Use a brush to give it a distressed look and a light spray to add colour. Follow the directions on the can for best results.
  7. Let all paint dry for at least 1 hour.
  8. Nail the pallet wood pieces to a post largest on the bottom, smallest on the top, forming a tree shape.
  9. Decorate with embellished wood ornaments and a twig star. Ornaments can be sprayed with metallic spray paint or Glitter spray paint, which requires a clear glitter sealer.
  10. Use a piece of burlap for your tree skirt.

TIP: Ornaments were created using craft wood circles.
