Personalized Gift Crate

Personalize a wood plaque and wood crate this holiday for that special someone. Start with a bare wood crate and plaque and use Varathane's barn red wood stain to give it holiday flair. 

1. Lightly sand all bare wood and remove sanding dust with a lint-free cloth.
2. Use a lint-free cloth to apply Varathane Classic Water Based Wood Stain in Scarlet to all bare wood. If a lighter color is needed, wipe off excess stain right away. For a darker color, let the stain sit for 2-3 minutes before wiping off excess.
3. Let stained wood dry for at least 1 hour. 
4. Using a synthetic paint brush, topcoat with Varathane Triple Thick Clear Finish. 
5. Let the polyurethane dry for approximately 1 hour.
6. Use paint markers to add a design or with lettered stencils to personalize the rectangular wood plaque. Let paint dry for about 30 minutes.
7. Hot glue the plaque to the wood crate and fill with gifts.
