Transform your old BBQ into an outdoor bar on wheels for easy and convenient backyard entertaining! Enjoy your time in the backyard with family and friends without having to run back inside the house for supplies. Tremclad® Oil Based Rust Paint provides beautiful coverage for items like our old BBQ that was very well loved.

  1. Remove the grill from inside the BBQ and any parts that will no longer be functioning. Be sure to clean out the interior and exterior of the BBQ to remove any food residue.

  2. Place BBQ in the centre of drop cloth or a flattened cardboard box. Using painter’s tape and newspaper, cover the trim to avoid getting any colour on these areas. Shake the Medium Blue paint can for one minute after the mixing ball rattles. Spray the paint onto exposed areas using slow, back-and-forth motions, slightly overlapping each coat for even coverage. Allow the paint to completely dry.

  3. Using the Hammered Black paint, spray the inside of the BBQ using slow, back-and-forth motions, slightly overlapping each coat for even coverage. Allow the paint to dry completely.

  4. Remove tape and any paper from trim and proceed to then cover any areas you just sprayed Medium Blue. Spray trim with Universal Flat Black using slow, back-and-forth motions, slightly overlapping each coat for even coverage. Allow the paint to dry completely.

  5. To freshen up the handle for the BBQ, cover all areas surrounding the handle with paper or painter’s tape and spray it with Hammered Black for a textured appearance. Allow to dry completely before removing any paper or tape.

  6. As I had removed the knobs on the front of the BBQ (leaving an open space), I used a window sill planter to fill that space and use as storage for supplies. I placed a garbage can where the propane tank once was. Inside the BBQ, I placed two plastic buckets that could be filled with ice to keep your beverages cold or used as a place to store garnishes for your drinks.
