You don't need expert skills to spray paint new colours onto a sleek metal chair. Turn an oldie into a goodie with bright, bold colours. Adorn your desk with this DIY metal chair project and feel a sense of pride.

Step 1: Make sure your metal chair is clean and thoroughly dry. If there are any loose rust spots, or old paint, use a wire brush or sandpaper to smooth the surface.

Step 2: Apply Painter's tape to the bottom of each leg as far up as you'd like, covering the enter portion you want painted with a different colour.

Step 3: Shake can of Universal Pearl Metallic in Sea Mist colour vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle.

Step 4: Hold the spray can 10-16" from the surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying.

Step 5: Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart to avoid runs and sags.

Step 6:
Remove Painter's tape and reapply it on the painted portion of the chair 24-48 hours after last coat was applied. Make sure the entire painted portion is protected from overspray.

Step 7:
Spray Universal Metallic Pure Gold to the base of the legs. Remove painter's tape.

Step 8:
All paint dries tack-free in 2-4 hours, to handle in 5-9 hours, and is fully dry in 24 hours.
