We used a leftover industrial shelf rack to make a beautiful office memo board.

Here are the steps:

  1. Spray paint your memo board using Universal Enamel in Flat Black. We did two coats on each side.
  2. Make memo board brackets (optional – see steps below).
  3. Spray paint your screws/brackets. If you are using brackets, use the Bulls Eye Primer first, then coat with Universal Metallic Gilded Brass.
  4. Mount your grid to the wall with screws (either on their own, or into the DIY brackets).

There are two ways to attach it to the wall:

  1. Screws drilled into studs. Spray paint the screws first if you want to match your colour scheme, or want them black.
  2. Make some DIY wooden brackets to hold the memo board in place.

If you choose to make your own brackets, here are the steps:

  1. Cut a 2x4” pine board down to 1 ¼” by 1 ¼” (at least 8” long).
  2. ¼” from the edge of the board, use a router table to cut a ¼” groove along the length of the board.
  3. Cut the board into four 2” pieces to make four brackets.
  4. Each bracket will need two screws to attach it to the wall.
