Refurbish an Old Bike With Spray Paint

It's been sitting in your garage for years, and it may be a little rusty, but with a few easy coats of spray paint, it's purpose can be renewed.

Before you start painting, make sure you protect your work area with a drop cloth.
Using a wire brush, remove any loose paint or rust spots from the metal of the bike.
Wash and dry the bike thoroughly with soapy water and a sponge. Dry off the bike with a towel and let it air dry for a little while.
If there are areas of the bike you don't want to paint, tape them off with painter's tape.
Prepare the paint by shaking the can of Tremclad spray paint for 1 minute after you hear the mixing ball begin to rattle. This will mix the paint evenly.
Using steady, back-and-forth motions, spray 2-3 light coats of paint onto the bike holding the can approximately 10" from the bike and letting each coat dry for a few minutes in between.
After your final coat of paint has been applied, let it dry for about 1 hour before handling.
