BBQs are a staple in backyards, but they are always really bland and boring. I decided to take mine from something that stuck out in a bad way to something that stands out in the best way. This project definitely proves you can make anything better with a little love and attention.
- Prep. Clean the BBQ to remove any dirt. Remove any handles or attachments that won’t be painted. If there are any areas with a glossy finish that will be painted, be sure to scuff those areas up with sandpaper to help the paint stick.
- Spray BBQ to one solid background colour with Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat. I chose to make mine a solid black.
- Lay stencil down. I made my own stencil for this project but there are many pre-made stencils available.
- Spray the desired colours. Be sure to tape off any areas you don’t want sprayed when using multiple colours. Regular painter’s tape works great for this.
- Remove the stencil and allow the paint to dry – and then enjoy your new decorative BBQ!
