Your home office desk should withstand everything you put it through in the daily grind. With Varathane Ultimate Wood Stain and Triple Thick, you'll add beauty and protection, so your wood desk lasts through your work and for many years to come.

Step 1: Remove all hardware from the desk and set it aside.

Step 2: Lightly sand the desk to remove any rough spots or old, loose paint. This will create a smooth, workable surface. Use a lint-free cloth to remove any sanding residue.

Step 3:  Over a drop cloth, gently stir the wood stain and apply a test sample on a small inconspicuous area with a lint-free cloth before proceeding with the entire job.

Step 4: Apply one coat of stain liberally with a good quality brush or clean lint-free cloth.

Step 5: Allow wood stain to penetrate for 5-10 minutes then remove excess by wiping with a cloth in the direction of the grain.

Step 6: Allow stain to dry for approximately 1 hour.

Step 7: Apply polyurethane with a high-quality synthetic brush with smooth even strokes, ensuring even coverage.

Step 8:
Allow polyurethane to dry completely for approximately 2 hours and then reattach hardware.
